LeasingDesk Insurance Expands into Texas

eRenterProtection expanding market to all 50 states

IRVINE, CA - April 20, 2004 - LeasingDesk, the largest provider of group insurance programs for the multifamily industry, recently announced the availability of their eRenterProtection insurance program in Texas. Using the LeasingDesk program, owners are able to offer renters insurance to their residents at the time of lease on a pre-approved basis and at guaranteed rates.

Several of our national accounts have already committed to rolling out the LeasingDesk program in Texas, given the continued increase in their commercial property insurance rates.” states Dirk Wakeham, CEO and President of LeasingDesk.

A recent independent telephone survey of 1,000 people conducted by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA) found that nearly two-thirds of individuals living in U.S. rental properties do not have renters insurance. The survey found that a frequent reason many renters reportedly give, for not purchasing renters insurance, is due to a common misconception - they believe they are covered under their landlord's insurance in the event of fire or theft.

The eRenterProtection program provides properties with extensive support materials and a website to educate residents on the realities of liability and the benefits of renters insurance.

"In the professionally managed apartment sector, only six percent of renters have insurance, and most owners/managers are finding more and more property claims are falling under their deductible," states Wakeham. "These smaller $2,000 - $3,000 claims are adding up quickly and eroding operating budgets. eRenterProtection reduces the risk for the properties, and places it back with the resident, where it belongs."

eRenterProtection renters insurance coverage is affordable, with monthly payment options starting at $15 for $10,000 in coverage. Higher limits and mold coverage are also available.
